Overview

Restaurant Tinder is a mobile application that uses a queueing method to curate restaurants for its users.

This application was ideated by Andy Garcia (@garzeah) and was designed by me using Adobe Illustrator, XD, and Figma. This was my first client and project going into UI and UX designing since starting in 2018. I worked closely with the developer to create and design the structure of the website. The first version and design development that went into Restaurant Tinder can be viewed here.

PROJECT TAKEAWAYS

Challenges

As this was my first website design project, there was little to no research on the target audience or accessibility considerations going into the initial designs. This version, along with the next two versions I created afterward, is solely based on how well I could advance my interface designing. The developer chose to follow through with the first version, as it was easier to launch considering the time constraint for the project.

Going Forward

Working on this project introduced me to the world of website design. I realized then that I wanted to focus more on this concentration in combination with graphic designing. To my advantage, I was able to take a handful of website design courses during and after college as a way to improve my understanding of what actually goes behind creating an application. If I were to redesign any of these versions, I would definitely need to consider more of the UX process so that the designs are more user-centered and friendly.
